Theatr Clwyd in nearby Mold is a theatre of international
renown with a range of productions to suit every taste
virtually very night of the week. Anglesey with its many
beautiful coves and beaches is within easy reach and the
Holyhead to Ireland Ferry just a short hop across the
island.
There is a marvelous choice of castles, such as Denbigh,
Conwy, Carnarvon, Harlech, Beaumaris, Criccieth and
Powys. The area also abounds in National Trust
properties such as Penrhyn Castle, the world famous
gardens at Bodnant, Chirk Castle and many others.
July sees the International Eisteddfod at Llangollen which
is famous throughout the world and is worthy of a short
break in North Wales in itself and only a very short drive
away is the amazing Pontcyllte Aquaduct. For children
and the enthusiasts alike there are the Great Little Trains
of Wales which are a delight and run through wonderful
countryside. Llechwedd Slate Quarries is a great
favourite, take the little train to the centre and experience
the amazing underground Slate Cathedral at the centre
of this great attraction. A short drive away is the internationally
renowned town of Betws y Coed with it’s famous
Swallow Falls and river.
Once the home of the iconic television series 'The
Prisoner' and one of the greatest attractions in the
country, the village of Portmeirion designed and built by
the eccentric architect Clough Williams- Ellis, remains
today a visitor experience spectacular beyond compare.
